The holidays are always difficult for us. Splitting your time between in-laws is hard enough, but then you also have your good friends, some with families 👨👩👧👦 of their own, so you wish you could split yourself in two! 😳
The award winning journalist, Edna Buchanan once said: “Friends are the family we choose for ourselves.”
This has proven true for us time and time again. From the college sorority sisters who became roommates, bridesmaids and ultimately best friends 👩❤️👩, to those acquaintances that you could just talk to… all night long.
From the ones you know would be there “do or die,” and you’re able to call 📞in the middle of the night – because hello! – you just need them to know how much you ❤️love them. To the cool party people that you were actually able to bond with and ended up calling your crew. 🤟🏽😍✌🏽
The family you’re born into is incredibly important, however; the family you choose for yourself will arguably be more influential throughout your lifetime. 🤔
Friendships have come and gone in my life, many with great sorrow, some with drama, others with a sense of much needed closure. 😌 I am now at a point in my life where I’m able to look back and know that this was all OK.
I truly believe that people will come into your life when you need them to, or vice versa. 👍🏽 There are friends who I’ve known for a long time but were never really close with, until the right time came along and we chose to deepen our friendship. ☺️
Likewise, I have best friends that I love 💗 deeply, but don’t speak to often enough. I think about them all the time, but I’m not around them all the time… and when I do get to see them, it’s like time never passed at all…. 😝
When we left L.A., we made a point to spend quality time with each and every one of our friends 👯♂️👯♀️. We also planned trips to see our friends from out of state and shared our plans with them.
There was no “going away party….” because, we’re not going away. We’ll be in each other’s lives forever. ❤️😍❤️
I miss a lot of people, and so far it’s been difficult to keep up – different time zones don’t help! 🕑🕖🕛🕡 So, to all my incredibly supportive friends, take this as a sort of love letter, if you will. ❤️📝❣️
Know that I think about you, miss talking to you and most importantly… 💞love, love, love YOU!!!!!!
Know that this Sabbatical is about giving ourselves space to grow, and that growing can be both beautiful and challenging…

I agree. You’ll never be able to help others the best you can unless you look after yourself first. Be there when others need you. Thanks for the read today

I think you’re right. Do your best to look after people, but take time to look after yourself too. Thanks for a good read.
